The Race to Empower Is Only Two Weeks Away!

Only two weeks to go until the 2015 Race to Empower 5k and One Mile Fun Run! Local running enthusiasts join individuals with disabilities and families not only to raise funds for UCP of Greater Cleveland, but also to challenge themselves to meet personal goals. We see athletes push themselves to beat their last-timed run, as well as children walking a mile independently for the first time. We see amazing feats every year!

We would like to extend an opportunity for you all to be a part of something great! If you haven’t already, join the Race to Empower team: race, volunteer, fundraise! Help spread the word about the programs at UCP of Greater Cleveland and how they impact the children, adults and families that we serve. Raise funds to support that work by setting a fundraising goal, reaching out to family and friends and encouraging them to donate in honor of your participation in the race.

Involvement in the Race to Empower is one of the joys of serving on the Board for UCP of Greater Cleveland. The first year I attended, I was smiling from the time I got there to the time I left. Not really knowing what to expect, registering and prepping for the race takes on an almost festival-like atmosphere on race morning. It was so rewarding to see people of all ages, along with families and teams, accomplishing goals. It is truly a diverse atmosphere including people of all capabilities and all ages. I would recommend anyone give it a try.

So join us on Sunday, May 3^rd as a racer or volunteer for a fantastic event. You will be inspired by your fellow racers to do your personal best while empowering others to work hard to meet incredibly complex personal goals, like walking on their own, finding a job in the community and becoming more independent.
