My Fundraiser for UCP

This week’s blog post was written by Ayah, whose mother is our Director of LeafBridge Therapy Services Intesar Taye.

As far back as I can remember, UCP of Greater Cleveland has been a huge part of my life. From CompuCamp to tagging along with my mom to endless events held by different families and staff, I would not trade that time or the amazing families I have met since I was a little girl! These children never fail to inspire me to reach heights I never thought possible, because they taught me exactly that…nothing is impossible.

I’m currently decorating little retractable badge reels to help raise funds for UCP families during the holidays. I decorated these badge reels out of medicine caps (being the nursing student I am) into floral shaped badge reels, which I will be selling to the amazing staff of UCP** for $3.00 each. This money will buy gift cards for the incredible families at UCP that may not have the financial resources to buy food to have a nice holiday dinner. I want to help these families because they have become part of my family, thanks to my mom’s awesome job!

badge-clipsI got the idea to decorate these from my manager on my former unit. I thought they were the coolest reels ever! I found one recently and thought of all the medicine caps I could get from work since I work in a hospital, and decided to decorate a bunch to raise money for our “Adopt a Family” at work. I was able to make close to $90 there, so I knew I wanted to make them for another organization that could benefit. I truly cannot think of a more deserving organization than UCP.

**Anyone who is part of the UCP Family is welcome to purchase a badge reel! Just see Donna in LeafBridge to buy one.
