UCP Celebrates National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (NDDAM), which highlights the many ways people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities. This campaign seeks to raise awareness about the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all aspects of life, as well as bring awareness to the barriers they still sometimes face in connecting to the communities in which they live, whether that be through education, employment or community living.

Although this is a nationally recognized month, each state chooses different ways to celebrate. This year’s theme for Ohio is “Live, Work and Go Where We Want,” which highlights how people with disabilities are being included in their communities. In the video below, UCP’s staff, board and clients explain what inclusion means to them.
