National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (NDDAM), which highlights the many ways people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities. This campaign seeks to raise awareness about the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities as well as the barriers that people with disabilities still face in connecting to the communities in which they live.
This year, some of the individuals in our OakLeaf Program created collages that highlight many aspects of themselves. It is important to remember that people are MUCH MORE than their disability. They are volunteers, dancers, artists, friends, wives, husbands, Tik Tok lovers, floral enthusiasts, and more! These collages will be on display at Westlake Porter Public Library.
